Dunkin’ Battle Bags | Duffels for Inpatient Cancer Treatment

The mission of the Humble Bumble Project is to alleviate even the slightest amount of financial burden faced by pediatric and young adult cancer families so parents and caregivers can focus on family rather than finance.

Dunkin’ Battle Bags were made possible by a grant received from the Dunkin’ Joy in Childhood Foundation with each bag valued at $550.

About 5,000 to 6,000 adolescents (aged 15 to 19) are diagnosed with cancer each year in the United States (American Cancer Society 1/12/21).  Newly diagnosed adolescents and young adults (AYAs) delay their dreams and futures while enduring devastating cancer treatments in a healthcare environment and many times experience a loss of independence at the very moment they are to begin ‘stretching their wings’.  Not yet adults and no longer children, adolescents, and young adults are often caught in a void between the juvenile room design of a pediatric hospital and the stark rooms within adult hospital settings all the while fitting neatly into neither.

The AYA population (13 – 18 years old) continues to be dramatically under-represented.  To bring support to this population, the Humble Bumble Project expanded our mission to provide the Dunkin’ Battle Bags specifically to AYA patients.

Dunkin’ Battle Bags are specifically designed to provide comfort and entertainment items to teenage cancer patients receiving inpatient treatment. The Humble Bumble Project is currently accepting requests for active cancer patients receiving inpatient treatment at Janet Weis Children's Hospital (Danville, PA) or Golisano Children’s Hospital (Rochester, NY).**
